Day 1 – Overland to Kununurra
departing from Darwin at 700 am (fly to Kununurra options available).
Travel via the Stuart Highway via Adelaide River, and Katherine, the
NT’s 3rd largest town. We turn west on the Victoria Highway (part of
the Savannah Way) and pass through rich cattle country and spectacular
rugged mountain landscapes through Gregory National Park to Victoria
River and Timber Creek. Enjoy views of the Stokes Range. We travel to
cross the NT/WA state border and arrive in Kununurra for overnight.

Day 2 –  Time to
look around Kununurra, and check out the fabulous art galleries
displaying local works. Depart for the Bungle Bungles viewing
spectacular mountain landscapes before settling into camp in this
stunning landscape of the Bungle Bungles. Scenic flight option
available including views of Lake Argyle & Argyle Diamond Mine,
before setting down in the Bungle Bungles (Purnululu
National Park) for overnight camp in this magical environment.

Day 3 – Today we
marvel at this high energy amazing orange and black striped beehive
landscape formed by giant river systems. Walk the spectacular Cathedral
Cave
and Piccanninny Creek and
after lunch a walk in Echidna Gorge. Optional scenic
helicopter flight
available.  Enjoy sunset viewing from local lookout over this stunning
landscape before a hearty meal and overnight camp in the Bungle
Bungles. BLD

Day 4 – We farewell the Bungle Bungles
today and
stop at
Turkey
Creek
and the Warnum art centre – where
Rover Thomas
and many other
famous Aboriginal artists emerged.  Here you can
view the latest works, meet the artists and find some bargain art
. After Turkey Creek, we head for  Five Rivers
Lookout
and Wyndham, then Parry’s
Lagoon
for the rich wetlands bird life including Jabirus
and Brolgas
. We travel  the Gibb River Rd, to
arrive at El
Questro resort
for overnight. Dinner at

Day 5 – El Questro is a million acres of
spectacular Kimberley
scenery, rivers and gorges. Its here that the movie Australia
was filmed, nestled under the Cockburn Ranges. This morning soak up the relaxing Zebedee hot springs, before a cruise in the Chamberlain River Gorge and
viewing from Pigeon Lookout over the
Pentecost River.

Day 6 –  Today we journey the the scenic and spectacular Gibb
River Road
via Cockburn Range,
to cross the mighty Pentecost River and
view from a
high vantage point. We
stop to view some Aboriginal rock art including Wandjina and
Bradshaw (Gion Gion) rock art.
 Enjoy a break at a bird
lovers billabong. We visit Home Valley Station, some fabulous
Aboriginal rock art
and  Mt Barnett Roadhouse and enjoy
more rock art and stories.
Arrive to relax or be creative by the beautiful swimming hole at our campsite at Manning Gorge.  Here we
can meet some of the
local Ngarinyin Aboriginal people for some time
together , and hear insights into the dreamtime and local culture.

Day 7
Enjoy an
early morning swim in the adjacent Manning Gorge waterhole, then first
stop this morning, we take a short walk off the road to
Galvan’s Gorge
for more rock art, great scenery and good
swimming and photos too! Potential for optional flight over the unique
and nearby Spider
Crater.
We travel on via
Imitji
Aboriginal community
before an afternoon walk in Windjana
Gorge
with the abundant wildlife and numerous freshwater
crocodiles in this eerie, ancient seabed environment. Overnight Windjana Gorge. BLD

Day 8 – Enjoy an early
morning walk in Windjana Gorge before we travel to
nearby Tunnel Creek, where we walk through this 600m
long underground river system to a hidden waterhole. Our day includes a
tasty picnic lunch and optional swim in the waterhole before we call in
to the new Mowanjum Art Centre (meet the artists, opportunity to buy
art from source) at the Mowanjum Aboriginal Community.
We visit Derby and the wharf with the 30ft (10
m) tides on the southern shores of King Sound. We see
some of the biggest and oldest Boabs in the Kimberley in
this area,
including the infamous Prison Tree near
Derby
. Arrive Broome late afternoon to
enjoy sunset over the Indian Ocean before completing at your chosen accommodation.

Option – After tasty
treats on CableBeach at sunset, enjoy a meal at a local
restaurant before

overnight in Broome at
our Cable Beach camp. ($ 50 includes
accommodation and breakfast. Dinner own cost)

Optional Day 9 
Celebrate with a morning swim and breakfast at Cable
Beach before flights home, or
options include a scenic flight to
the Horizontal
Waterfalls
or visit the Willie Creek
Pearl Farm, or simply shop or relax in Broome’s balmy climate. Tour
ends after breakfast at 10 am, or store your gear with us to enjoy the
day before flights home or alternate destinations or consider
travelling with us to Alice Springs via the Tanami Track, Wolfe Creek Crater and art centres.
