The Laura Festival is the biggest indigenous dance
event in Australia. Join Spirit Safaris to combine visits to Undara
Lava Tubes and the Dinosaur Trail of Hughenden and Richmond
as we travel the East Coast of Australia from Sydney via Byron Bay,
Brisbane, Rockhampton, Undara lava tubes, Townsville, Cairns,
Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforests, Cape Tribulation, Cooktown,
Jowalbinna for Quinkan rock art (2 nights) to the Laura
Festival (3 nights). Explore the Dinosaur Trail as we
travel on to Cloncurry (Qantas birthplace) Mt Isa, Camooweal, Barkly
Tablelands, 3 Ways, Mataranka Hot Springs ( and "We
of the Never Never" homestead). Into Kakadu via Katherine,
Cooinda (with Yellow Waters Cruise) to Darwin. (meets
Darwin to Broome tour departure 28 June)
The Laura Festival occurs every 2 years and is a celebration in Northern
Queensland of Aboriginal dance from around the country. Join us on this rare
opportunity to experience this special event,
with 3 nights camping at the venue,
after exploring the Daintree rainforests and the lava Tubes

Dinosaur Trail
We visit Richmond home to the Award winning Kronosaurus Korner
museum. Inside Kronosaurus Korner you will find the only centre in
Australia primarily dedicated to displaying marine reptiles, as well
as a very special dinosaur. Minmi, with impressions of its
fossilised skin, is considered to be Australia's best-preserved
dinosaur skeleton. The Richmond Pliosaur is Australia's best
vertebrate fossil and one of the world's best Pliosaur skeletons is
also housed here.
Australia's Dinosaur Trail in Queensland's Outback is an
exciting new adventure highlighting the world-class fossil
discoveries in the towns of Winton, Hughenden and Richmond.
Here you can meet Hughie, a Muttaburrasaurus skeletal replica and
Mutt, his full-bodied mate. |

Rock Art Walks
The Quinkan rock art at Jowalbinna is
Queensland's premier rock art site and includes -
- Giant Wallaroo - "The Cycle of Birth and
Death": Spectacular landscapes and paintings on a walk into Pine
Tree Creek valley and up to the opposite escarpment wall.
- The Brady Creek Escarpment - "Many Clans,
Many Totems": Includes Death Adder, Honeymoon Cave, Red Lady,
Garfish Sorcery and Tent Shelter rock art sites, near refreshing
Brady Creek.
- Emu Dreaming - "The Emu Ancestor enters the
Land": An accessible site featuring ancient abstract engravings
and occupation evidence.
- Yam Dreaming - "The Archaeologists' Choice":
A fascinating archaeological dig site on fertility ceremonial
grounds, involving a challenging walk and climb into the site
(available for exclusive touring only).

Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree Rainforest encompasses an area
of approximately 1,200 square kilometres, from
the Daintree River north to Cooktown and west to
the Great Divide, representing the single
largest block of tropical rainforest in
Australia.
The area protected under World Heritage
listing covers an area of approximately 12,000
square kilometres, stretching from Townsville to
Cooktown 75 per cent of which is tropical
rainforest, an area equivalent to about the size
of Sydney.
