Combine spectacular Kimberley scenery with meetings with the Bush University elders – an the opportunity to learn, work and play with Aboriginal people on their traditional lands. Visit special Wandjina and Bradshaw (Gwion Gwion) art sites.  A unique opportunity to learn ancient wisdom, recreating community and nature. Enriching and fulfilling experiences with the world’s longest surviving culture.

Experience incredible rock art galleries, with the elders - learn about Aboriginal Lore, men and women’s business, spirituality, bush medicines and food, language and history, ceremony, song and dance.

Day 0 - Wednesday 9 July - Arrive Broome and relax on Cable Beach in the sun or join an optional Pearl Farm visit or other local treat. Overnight Broome.

Day 1 - Thursday 10 July - Depart from Broome approx 1 pm (meets flights - allows morning swim !). Visit the famous prison Boab tree, and worlds longest drinking trough, the new Mowanjum Art Centre (meet the artists, learn and buy from source), and Mowanjum Aboriginal Community. Meet the locals and after dinner, settle into the Mowanjum Festival cultural highlights.  Overnight Derby.

Day 2 - Depart from Derby for mystical Windjana Gorge for a gorge walk at this special creation “waterhole”. Meet the local freshwater crocodiles and exotic bird life (maybe even a rare Gouldian Finch) in this eerie, ancient seabed environment. Overnight Windjana Gorge.

Day 3 - A short hop to Tunnel Creek, and walk through this cave river system to a special waterhole. After an optional swim, and lunch we travel the Gibb River Rd to Mt Barnett and Manning Gorge via King Leopold Range, Queen Victoria Pass via Imitji Aboriginal community to our campsite at Manning Gorge, via Mt Barnett.

Day 4 – Enjoy the Manning Gorge swim hole before departure via Kulumburu Rd to Drysdale River cattle station and on to Ngarinyin country. Meet Bush University elders and experience the dreamtime with Bush University elders. Learn of issues of country, kids and community. Learn on the land about bush tucker and medicines, lore and law, spirit and the tales of the Wandjina.  Travel to our Mitchell Plateau camp, passing through spectacular vegetation including cycads, pandanas palms and rainforests via King Edward River. Overnight on Mitchell Plateau.

Day 5 - Morning walk to Mitchell Falls via spectacular swimming pools and waterfalls. View Bradshaw (Gion Gion) rock art sites and swim in these beautiful clear fresh waters. Thrill with a spectacular helicopter ride over the falls for a once in a lifetime view of this vast landscape. This is one of the most remote areas of Australia.  Overnight on Mitchell Plateau.   

Day 6 - Travel the scenic and spectacular Gibb River Road via Cockburn Range, fording the mighty Pentecost River,  to El Questro Station for a welcome taste of the rich life. Overnight at El Questro.   

Day 7 - Soak up the Zebedee  hot springs, before exploring more of the El Questro treats - like Emma Gorge or Moonshine Gorge. Relax for a second night at our El Questro camp.

Day 8 - After a hearty breakfast travel on through spectacular rugged mountain landscapes to Warnum art centre (Turkey Creek). Meet the artists and find some bargain art. Enter the Bungle Bungles (Purnululu National Park) for our overnight camp.

Day 9  - Marvel at this high energy amazing orange and black striped beehive landscape formed by giant river systems. Walk the spectacular Cathedral cave, Piccanninny Creek and later a walk in Echidna Gorge. Optional Scenic flights available. Overnight in the Bungle Bungles.

Day 10 – Travel via Halls Creek (gold country) and at Fitzroy Crossing, cruise with the crocodiles on the mighty Fitzroy River in Geike Gorge. See the old rainmaker in the river and learn his story. Walk in this fascinating Devonian reef landscape. Overnight

Day 11 – (Sunday July 20) - Tour ends late afternoon in Broome. Time for a Cable Beach swim in the warm, wonderful azure Indian Ocean or afternoon flights to major cities, or optionally you are welcome to overnight with us & enjoy a Cable Beach breakfast.

Day 12 - Optional Cable Beach breakfast or from Broome is an opportunity to try the highly recommended Horizontal Waterfalls flight & jet boat experience or a Pearl or crocodile farm visit. These are optional extra day or part day tours - Ask for details.

Tour includes small group modern 4 wheel drive vehicles, camping gear, fees, side trips, most meals. Percent of cost supports Aboriginal community and nature re-creation projects.
