The historic town of Cobargo is celebrating its 12th Festival of music, dance, song comedy, theatre and poetry. Over 200 performers will converge on the Cobargo showground over the last weekend in February and provide a pageant of Australian and international talent. Included in the program this year are the outrageous Beez from Germany; the beautiful step-dancing fiddlers Mad Violet from Canada, the legendary Judy Small, Kate Fagan - (Winner of the National Film & Sound Archive Award for best folk recording of 2006). There will be sizzling bluegrass from The Lawnmowers - PLUS Karen Lynne and Acoustic Shock and Cajun magic from Allez-gators. Australian and Celtic music will be well represented by the Watsaname Band, The Merrigans and Jonathon Ashley, a fine singer from South Australia Blues enthusiasts will appreciate contributions to the program by Paul Wookey, Nick Charles and Bob McGowan and the Front Porch Pickers. At the Cobargo Festival you can join in and have fun in a wide range of music song poetry or dance. All festival goers are invited to join in the Festival Choir (led by Miguel Heatwole), the instrument sessions and the singalongs. The facilities include exotic foodstalls, a bar and refreshment area craft and market stalls and a Festival Shop where you can buy performers' CDs and buy sell or exchange pre-loved musical instruments. Blackboard Concerts are scheduled over the three days and any performer is welcome to come to the Festival and to sell their CDs through our Festival Shop.
